Confirm gastroscopy assessment, sedation arrangements, preparation, possible biopsy charges and separate report dates before travel.
Make the procedure request precise
A digestive-health package does not automatically include gastroscopy. Check for the named procedure; a breath test or other digestive laboratory entry is a different item. Give the coordinator your city, available dates, departure deadline and any existing clinical request. The receiving hospital must confirm suitability and whether a consultation is required first.
The NHS explains gastroscopy as a camera examination of the oesophagus, stomach and upper intestine. Its patient guidance also distinguishes preparation, comfort measures, recovery and results. These are useful questions to discuss, not a timetable or booking policy for a Chinese hospital.
Settle sedation and preparation before travel
Ask which comfort or sedation options the hospital offers and whether the proposed arrangement involves an additional assessment or charge. Obtain its written instructions for food, drink and medicines. Do not change prescribed medication on the basis of this page. If sedation is planned, confirm who must accompany you home and the hospital's restrictions during recovery.
Keep the procedure appointment separate from the routine checkup morning. Allow the hospital to specify arrival, preparation and discharge arrangements before adding meetings or onward travel. A coordinator's presence during the visit does not automatically provide an overnight companion.
