How to Prepare for a Health Checkup in China
A practical preparation checklist for fasting, medicines, travel dates, documents and report delivery before a health checkup in China.
Preparation starts when the appointment is confirmed
Preparation depends on the examinations and the institution. After the proposed package and appointment are confirmed, ask for the centre’s written instructions. A general website checklist cannot replace instructions for your actual blood tests, imaging or procedures.
Fasting and food instructions
Some laboratory tests may require fasting, while others do not. Ask the institution exactly when to stop food and whether water is allowed. Do not guess from another clinic’s instructions. If you have diabetes, are pregnant or take medicines that affect food or fluids, ask the institution or your clinician what to do before changing your routine.
Medicines and health information
Prepare a short list of current medicines, allergies and relevant history for the medical team. Do not stop prescribed medication unless a qualified clinician or the examining institution tells you to. If a question about suitability affects your choice of CT, MRI, endoscopy or another examination, raise it before the appointment.
Documents and arrival planning
- Bring the identification document requested by the institution.
- Save the appointment confirmation, address, campus and contact number offline.
- Allow time to travel from your hotel and complete registration.
- Wear clothing that makes the relevant examination easier and follow any centre-specific instructions.
- Tell the team your departure date so report delivery can be planned before you travel onward.
Questions to settle before you fly or change cities
Ask which institution will provide the checkup, where to meet the English coordinator, which examinations are confirmed, whether any item needs a separate appointment, what the report will include and how it will be delivered. A city preference alone does not confirm a hospital or date.
After the visit
Keep the original report, English version, laboratory values, units, reference ranges and imaging documents together. If a result is flagged, ask a qualified healthcare professional to interpret it with your history. A translated report supports communication; it does not replace diagnosis or treatment by a clinician.
Send a complete planning request
Use the enquiry form with your city, arrival and departure dates, preferred package and any preparation question. You can also review our visit-planning guide and the published package lists. Do not send medical records or identity documents in your first enquiry.
